1)  How much does the band charge?

The price of Hush will vary depending on a number of factors.  The date, time of performance, location and number of pieces are the deciding variables.  We're happy to quote a price by email or by phone (978) 922-9698.  Please feel free to contact us anytime.

2) How many pieces are in the band?

Hush comes in a number of combinations.  We can go out as a 7 piece band (drums, keyboards, bass, lead guitar, sax, male vocalist and female vocalist) and we can also add  trumpet and trombone to make the 9 piece version. These are our two main versions, but please feel free to ask about more or fewer pieces.

5) Can the band provide music for the cocktail hour and/or ceremony?

We can offer a number of options for the cocktail hour.  Solo piano; a duo of sax and piano; or a jazz trio of sax, bass, and piano are some of the live options we have to offer.  We can also provide  music on CD ( depending on location of cocktail hour).

For the ceremony, we can offer solo piano/organ or flute with piano. Other classical musicians can also be arranged such as flute, violin, cello or harp.

7) Can we see the band live before we book them?

Absolutely. If you like the band from this site or from the video,  seeing us in front of a live audience is even better.  The energy that a crowd creates is something that we cannot reproduce in a web site or on a video tape. Please check our schedule for public appearances which is the easiest way to see us. If you would like to see the band at a private function, please check with  us before coming to make sure the facility is a place conducive to viewing.  You should always dress appropriately and arrive at least two hours after the start time(at a private function).

8) When does the band arrive for a function?

The band usually arrives 90 minutes before the start time.  This gives us enough time to set up, do a sound check and go over details with the function manager.  Once we are set up, if guests are in the room, we're happy to put on a CD at no charge to provide background music.

9) The songlist is great, but our first dance is not on it.  Will the band learn the song for us?

The band is be happy to learn a song for everyone.  We do ask that you supply us with a CD or cassette copy of the song about 4 weeks in advance of the wedding to give us ample time to learn the song .

10) We've been practicing dancing to a CD.  Would the band be offended if we ask them to play the CD for our special dance?

Not at all.  Sometimes people prefer to hear the original artist for their first or last dance or for a parental dance because they have been practicing dancing to that version or they just want to hear the original artist sing the song. We're happy to play your CD or cassette of the song for you.

12) Will the band play for more than 4 hours?

Whenever possible the band is more than happy to play overtime.  The price of the overtime depends on how many pieces you have booked and how long we stay.  The price will be arranged beforehand, but your decision doesn't have to be made until the day of the reception.

14) What happens when the band takes a break?

During the first break, which is typically when the main course is served, we put on a CD of soft background music so your guests can talk and enjoy their meals.  The band leader, Mike will DJ the second break, so there is non-stop dance music for the evening. We also invite you to provide CD's of special songs we may not have and we will play them for you.

15) Our function hall is small.  Will the band be too loud?

We have performed in many halls, large and small, and we pay close attention to the volume level so your guests can enjoy their meals and talk with one another through dinner. We are also very open to your input on volume at any time during the reception, so don't hesitate to let us know if it's too loud. We do recommend seating the younger guests nearer to the band if possible as they are usually less sensitive to the volume of the music.

16) Do we meet to go over the details?

The band leader, Mike, will definitely have a meeting with you to go over all the details of the wedding to make sure we are doing everything you would like and to insure a smooth running function. This meeting is usually done over the phone about 2 weeks before the wedding.  We send out an info sheet for you to fill out that goes over all the events that typically happen at the reception. You also have the option of filling out the info sheet on a form on our website to make it even easier to handle these details.

17) One of my guests is a professional musician/vocalist.  Does the band mind if he/she sits in with them?

We enjoy having people sit it with us for a song.  It's special when a friend performs for you at your reception, and it's always a lot of fun.  All we ask is that they respect our instruments and equipment, as well as the other guests at the function, and perform in a manner accordingly.

18) How do we reserve Hush?

All you have to do is let us know by e-mail or phone (978) 922-9698.  We'll send you an entertainment agreement which we ask you to sign and return.  A deposit is also required at this time to complete your reservation.

19) What happens after we reserve Hush?

After the band has been reserved, there is nothing to do until about 2 weeks before the event when it's time to go over the details. We'll be sending out an info sheet (or you can fill it out online) and handling all the details with you each step of the way as the event approaches. The band leader, Mike, will be in touch with you when it's time to take care of each planning detail. Please feel free to contact us anytime if you should have a question or concern.

20) Do you have any tips or suggestions?

Our goal is to help you have the most successful party possible. After having performed at over 2,000 events, the band has found things that seem to work well to make a party more fun. Here's a few suggestions;

If possible, the band should be set up directly in front of the dance floor with no tables between the band and the dance floor. This gives us a good connection with the dancers and no one directly in front of the speakers.

Try to seat the younger guests nearer to the band as they are not as sensitive to the volume of the music. We are always paying attention to the volume, but this helps.

We suggest doing your first dance right after you're introduced as this opens the dance floor to your guests and usually gets the party off to an earlier start.

ENJOY YOURSELF at the reception.  We know you have spent a great deal of time and money to plan the perfect day. You've hired a great number of professionals to handle all the details for you so try to relax on your wedding day and enjoy yourself and your new spouse. It's all over very quickly for you, so have some fun.  Our experience has taught us that if the bride and groom are out on the dance floor, that's where you'll find all the guests too.
